Thoughts on the second half:
6:18PM: Springsteen is good. But some of the football stage banter is odd…
6:21PM: Is Carlos Boozer the best overstock.com could do for it’s Super Bowl ad?
6:22PM: People literally laughing their asses off. LMAO! OK, not really. A painfully unfunny commercial is not the best strategy for advertising your comedy series, NBC.
6:25PM: Funny ID theft commercial by 1st Bank. Unfortunately, I’m more worried about my bank’s solvency than little programs they can overcharge me for. So it was a good ad at least for name recognition.
6:33PM: The Steelers hit a lot harder than the Cardinals. I guess that what happens when there is a baseball team in the Super Bowl.
6:37PM: Free Grand Slam at Denny’s this Tuesday! To everyone in America! Oh, sorry Sneaky and Ranma…
6:54PM: Roughing the placekick holder…The Cards are finding novel ways to throw the game away.
6:56PM: 20 – 7 Steelers with a couple minutes left in the third quarter. My prediction is looking good (31 – 14 Steelers).
6:59PM: Annoying CareerBuilder.com ad, but maybe it will be effective in making people ponder how much they hate their job and look on site, which is the goal.
7:05PM: Cheap Frontier airline tickets! That could be good for me here in Denver!
7:07PM: Time to go walk the dog. I hope I don’t miss a Kurt Warner sack…
7:20PM: Looks like Arizona has a good drive going…and Pittsburgh is helping them with defensive holding.
7:23PM: What a condescending Vizio commercial. And it seems like it is trying to communicate with people that have already bought a hi-def TV. My TV doesn’t say “Vizio”…but I don’t think I overpaid, since my TV is a $250 heavy, regular TV.
7:26PM: Nice grab by Fitzgerald. 20-14 Steelers….The Cardinals aren’t allowed to score again, or else it will ruin my prediction.
7:29PM: Strange Hulu.com commercial…Doesn’t talking about TV (and hulu) turning people’s brain to mush make most people less likely to watch?
7:35PM: Strange Pepsi McGuyver parody. Scrapping the bottom of the barrel of pop culture references?
7:42PM: Almost a safety for AZ…missed it by an inch.
7:45PM: OK, now a safety. Holding in the endzone. Another rule I didn’t know.
7:47PM: Nice hit on the kcikoff. Its now 20 – 16 Steelers; Arizona has the ball with 2:50 left in the game. If the Steelers D hold, the game is over. The Cards need a touchdown now. Either way, my prediction is fucked.
7:48PM: Wow. 65 yard touchdown my Larry Fitzgerald. 23 – 20 Cardinals. Shocking!
7:55PM: OK, now Go Daddy is getting a little bit closer to their sweet spot. But the performancing enhancing drug hearing was a little bit awkward, but a nice transition to enhancing your image via a website.
7:57PM: If the Steelers can tie it and force overtime, maybe this will give the NFL’s stupid overtime rule some much needed attention.
7:58PM: Santonio Holmes is taking over. MVP if Steelers pull it off, imo.
8:00PM: Touchdown!? Looks like the feet are in…but it’ll be close.
8:07PM: 15 seconds left. The Cards have no timeouts remaining. One or two more chances to go 40 yards.
8:08PM: Steelers win!
8:13PM: That was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be. Very entertaining in fact. It was slow most of the game, with lots of penalties. But then the 4th quarter got cooking. The Cards came back from 13 down, and then the Steelers marched right down and scored the game winning touchdown. Overall, not a classic, but a classic ending.
sneaky

we have denny’s in Japan. I’m gonna go and demand free food
I know they are in Japan. But the commercial specifically said “we’re giving Free Grand Slam breakfasts to everyone in America!” But go through a fit on Tuesday and see what free stuff you can get!
Its funny, Ive never been to a Denny’s in my life, but I would go if i could get a free grand slam breakfest.
Oh and good game, especially the 2nd half. Damn shame the Cardinals lost. And oh yeah the officiating in this game was atrocious! So many strange calls, blown calls, you name it.
I had honestly forgotten that the Cardinals were a football team, too. I kept thinking they were some kind of expansion team but they’re apparently one of the oldest in the NFL.
I thought the officiating was pretty good overall. It’s really easy to complain about it when there were so many penalties. Steelers got the better end of that, but theirs were above average as well. That one roughing the passer call on the Cardinals was bogus, though.
It’s kinda fun being in Pittsburgh, which is kinda the archetypal football town.
I didn’t think the officiating was bad….other than the questionable late hit call. It looked to me that the Cardinals had to hold in order to stop the rush.
