A-Yo’s visa application has been approved by USCIS. It only took 7.5
months to get approved! And now it will take another month for them
to transmit the approved petition to the embassy in Kazakhstan and then a couple more weeks for A-Yo to schedule an appointment and jump through
various hoops at the US Embassy in Almaty, and she’ll be back here on
a new visa in March. Then we’ll get to fork over a thousand bucks for
her to apply to be a permanent resident and wait three months for
USCIS to send her a Employment Authorization Document. So hopefully
she’ll be able to start working in around May or June. The Department
of Homeland Security is so efficient! Thank you Michael Chertoff and
your benevolent beard!

And just in time for the recession too!
Congrats A!
Add at least a month to all the processing times. EAD theoretically could come in three months, but most likely won’t, so she shouldn’t go applying for any jobs till she actually knows they’re printing it.
