Hey, Future Illinois governors.  Don’t fuck around with Patrick Fitzgerald.  He will pwn your face.

I don’t know if he is a prosecutorial rock star or just in the right places at the right times — Illinois is probably one of the better places to make a name for yourself fighting public corruption — but this guy has landed some really big cases:  Two governors in a row, Scooter Libby, and several of Mayor Daley’s associates.   Before becoming a US Attorney, he successfully prosecuted the first World Trade Center bombers.

I wonder if Alberto Gonzales thought about firing him, too?

Also, if the charges against Blagojevich are true, they are almost unbelievable.  I can’t imagine that someone who was already under federal investigation would solicit bribes for the high profile senate appointment to fill the vacancy opened up by the president-elect.  Did he really think he could get away with it?

The mind boggles.
