So after spending the last few days finishing up the great “Chrono Trigger,” I decided to turn on my Xbox 360, and surprise I get a nice New Years gift, the red ring of death! Pretty much happens to everyone that buys a 360, and now I have to go through the task of getting mine fixed. Problem is I’m in Japan, my system is a US one. Thankfully they do fix US systems here, but hopefully I won’t go through too much trouble. I’m a little surprised it took this long to red ring, but I knew it would happen one day. Still the best system I’ve owned, but for now I guess I’ll play some more PS3.
sneaky

that sucks…what do they think is wrong with it?
Red Ring of Death is a problem with most XBOX 360 systems and mainly effects systems made in 2005-2007. Mine was made in 2007. Basically there’s a issue with heat warping the boards over time, this causes problems with chips coming out. It happens to so many 360 systems that Microsoft had to extend the warranty for each system to three years just for that problem alone.
Good news however is that my system started working again, but since this is a major problem I might still call them and have it repaired, cause the thing is with 360 is once it red rings, even if it works again it will red ring permanently Im told shortly after. Plus its a free repair. Luckily Microsoft does fix American 360s in Japan, which is a relief. Still sucks this happens.
Had the same trouble and dident know what to do with it. They do overheat and I found out not to do the xbox towel trick as it can wreck it, see link.
