A funny thing happened today at the post office. I went to mail a couple of Christmas packages to America when I noticed there was a tv crew there. Well after spending ten minutes mailing and talking in Japanese I go to leave. Well the tv crew had moved to a table in the front where there were post office ladies and bags of potatoes. A old lady was stopped at the entrance in front of the camera to give her some potatoes. I stood behind waiting as I didn’t want to screw up their camera shot, being the nice gaikokujin that I am. Well next thing I know is another lady came to me and gave me a free bag of potatoes! I still don’t know fully why, but it had to do with the whole New Years Card season thing it looks like from what she told me and the advertisements and all too.
So watch tonight I’m on TV here again in Kofu for getting free potatoes. I love this country.

So your gonna DVR it and post it on youtube right?
That would be hard, not sure what station was recording us, I didn’t get a good look at the logo. Probably local NHK but not sure. Also my DVR sucks. Its a Panasonic and I love it, but unlike a TIVO, I can only record one program at a time. And also thanks to the Japanese TV recording rules, I have to use a CPRM disk, that after recorded can only be played on players that can read them. So far only my recorder and PS3 can play them I’ve found. So connecting to youtube would be hard.
However, I can put my other vid on youtube now, I should do that sometime.
