I was gonna write a longer update, but the iPhone hides the punctuation and I not in the mood to write a long post hunting for periods and commas. Maybe I’ll sleep on train instead.

We are getting pretty lazy about updating the blog. Is there a way
for Word Press to generate nasty emails automatically if we don’t post
to the blog at least once a week? Things have been pretty crazy here
because of the legislative session, but I’m hoping to post more once
it is over in the beginning of May. Also, A-Yo and I are looking for
a used car for her dad that were can buy for cheap and ship to
Kazakhstan, so I’m thinking of starting a blog series on that
(mis)adventure. (For those that aren’t familiar with the used car
market in KZ, because people drove Soviet cars for most of the 1990’s
and only began buying new and used European and Japanese cars in the
mid-2000’s, quality used cars actually cost a lot higher than they do
in the US. So if you get a good deal on a car in the US, it is
actually cheaper to ship it to KZ and pay the various tariffs than to
buy a used care in KZ….more details in the upcoming blog posts!). I
might have some pictures from Russian Easter next week, so keep an eye
out for those.

Does anyone have any other ideas for interesting topics to post about?
Now that the Obama administration is settled in and Bush is gone, my
urge to write about news and politics is decreasing. And this
recession has gone on so long, I’m also tired of depressing economic
news. But since I’ve been posting so rarely, maybe I can get back
into some of those topics since I’ve had a good break. But in
general, the idea of a self-contained series of posts on one-topic
seems like a good way to generate content and keep motivated.

I started a blog roll for the site. Most of the links so far are national and state political blogs and a few random ones I found about video games. If you have any suggestions for blogs to add, post it on the forum or leave a comment!

As you can see, I’ve changed the design of the site. The theme I’m using has a banner rotation script, so if anyone wants to make a banner, go nuts!

Pretty much anything is good, either with or without the Flock of Cats logo included. The size needs to be 920×100 pixels.

If you need a free image editing program, I recommend The Gimp.

Hello comrades,

Time to break in the new, multi-user FoC blog. Politics, video games, pet pictures…what more could anyone want! I promise to spam the blog with pictures of Barsik in short order.

Actually, I’m sure we’ll have some interesting things to write about…and hopefully the multi-user format will encourage us to write interesting posts and discuss accordingly. Not that we will have any readers other than ourselves…but why should that stop us?

And with the Obama transition going full speed ahead and Sarah Palin Turkey videos surfacing, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of political things to discuss.

So here’s my first post on our multi-user, super-spiffy blog. I guess the point of this is for each of us to post our happenings and stuff, tell you when we get a new job or hit the level cap, and when we get new hamsters.

I haven’t done any of those things in a while, so this is a pretty boring post, but that’s OK. I’m going to take some pictures of the snow here in Pittsburgh tomorrow and I’ll write a post about how it sorta sucks but is also kinda cool, since this is the first time I’ve lived anywhere that has a real winter with lots and lots of snow.

I just noticed that it doesn’t seem to show our user-names when we make a post, so I’m signing this for now. (Fixed! Ninja Edited!)

When Al Gore invented the internet, he had one thing in mind — creating a medium through which expats in Japan and former peace corp volunteers could publish their thoughts about politics, video games, and the Japanese language as well as post pictures of their pets.

With that in mind, the Flock of Cats blog is back - the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.
